How much does a car wash tunnel actually earn in Spain?

Figures on car wash tunnel earnings in Spain vary a fair amount depending on the source — and rightly so: a three-bay tunnel on an industrial estate does not turn over the same as a premium site in a city centre. Even so, some ranges come up consistently enough to be a real reference point, not a headline number. This is only half the picture — how much it costs to run one compliantly is the other half.

What a standard tunnel bills

For a well-located tunnel with normal activity, monthly turnover typically falls between €4,500 and €5,000. A single well-placed bay can generate €1,500–€3,000 a month on its own. At the premium end — several bays, strong location — annual turnover can exceed €400,000. These ranges are deliberately wide: location and car volume matter more than almost any other variable.

Billing is not the same as earning

This is where the numbers get more useful, and more commonly ignored. Typical gross margins run between 30% and 60% of turnover, depending on how automated the site is and how much product, water and electricity eat into it (usually 15%–25% of turnover). Real net margin — what actually stays in the business — tends to sit in a narrower band, roughly 5% to 15% of total turnover.

Why that range is so wide

A tunnel that knows exactly what each wash costs — product, water, electricity, maintenance, staff — operates at the top of that range. One that only tracks what it bills, without a clear breakdown of what it spends, tends to sit at the bottom without ever knowing why.

These numbers are a starting point, not your answer

No national average replaces your own numbers. Your fixed costs, your average ticket price and how many cars you wash a day are figures you already have — and with them, your real margin can be worked out in under a minute, not pulled from a nationwide range. See how Namicar tracks it for you.

If you don't yet know how much of your turnover is quietly leaking out in expenses that nobody adds up in one place, the first move isn't a price change or a new location — it's bringing the till, subscriptions and daily log into one account, so you can see the real number every week instead of guessing at month-end.
